Local Landscapes

I haven't posted for a couple of weeks because I've been out enjoying the weather and shooting local landscapes. I have a lot of wedding and portrait work to process at the moment and over the coming weeks so I am looking forward to getting out onto the downs and beach when I can. I find it heartening that we've still got a lot of warm bright evenings ahead of us, very good for the soul. Here's a few examples of what I've been up to.

Norfolk Trip.

We have just returned from a wonderful week in North Norfolk. I confess that I have dodged a visit there for some years but reluctantly bowed to pressure from Sarah, convinced I would miss the rugged west coast. I was wrong as I found the place really very charming and even ejoyed the early rises to catch the sunrise. I shall post a few more images as I get round to processing them.

Website Updated.

I have finaly updated my website, which proved to be a mammoth task. Preparing 600 images is always more time consuming than you think it's going to be. I have also revamped the wedding packages to offer better value and now also offer a CD only package. As always I am willing to discuss variations on these. I now need to get on with paying work and put together my next Manfrotto article. Still, spring is definately upon us and as I type birdsong is filling the air so let's hope the country becomes gripped with a much needed air of optimism.

Manfrotto School of Xcellence.

I am now a contributor on the Manfrotto School of Xcellence team for the rest of the year, being the only UK based photographer, the other nine guys are from all over Europe and the US. I have completed my first article on this image taken at Britain Point in Cornwall and will follow up with a further article every month for the rest of the year. I shall keep the blog updated as they are posted on their website and will post the link when the first one appears.

Kimmeridge Bay, Dorset.

Just thought I'd add this image from last months visit to Dorset that was featured in Flickrs "Explore", which is a selection of what they consider to be the best images from global uploads to their site. You can visit my Flickr site here http://www.flickr.com/photos/penpystill/

New Portrait Packages.

In a continuing effort to offer the very best value I can in my portrait work I have changed my portrait package deals. These do not yet reflect on the website as all the images are soon to be updated as I have some great wedding images from the last 18 months that aren't yet on there. The whole site will be undergoing a bit of a much needed refresh. Basiclly I now have a new £39 package that includes the studio sitting and 3 prints upto 12x8. The other package prices stay the same but I no longer stipulate the size as you can now have whatever size you like for each print ordered upto 12x8 inches. These are pretty much unbeatable value for high quality studio prints and all packages include a password protected gallery. I've added a couple of images from a recent session to give you some idea of the kind of work I do. Although, to be honest, no two sessions are ever the same. Please feel free to call me if you would like to know more.

East Head, Chichester Harbour.

I've just had another landscape image featured on the Sussex Wildlfe Trust Twitter and Facebook sites. This was actually taken about 12 years ago back in my medium format film days. Taken on a cold winters afternoon at East Head in Chichester Harbour, the light was intense. I must get back there soon as I haven't been down there for years. Although I sometimes miss the old film days the technology now available to us photographers never ceases to amaze me.

Osmington Mills.

These two images have been quite popular on my Flickr site that you can visit here http://www.flickr.com/photos/penpystill/ . Thought I would put them up here and I'll probably follow up with some Kimmeridge Bay shots shortly.

Dorset Coast Trip.

I've recently returned from a trip to the wonderful Dorset coast. I wanted to revisit a couple of places that I had not been to for years, whilst the sun was still rising and setting out to sea. One of those places was Osmington Mills, a stunning little beach just east of Weymouth. I'm very glad I found the time to go as on the two mornings I visited I had the place to myself. I will add a few more images over the next week or so.

Sussex Wildlife Trust

These two images have recently been featured on the Sussex Wildlife Trust Twitter feed which is quite a compliment. One taken last month and the other a couple of years ago but both winter Sussex landscapes. As I want to concentrate my efforts nearer to home this year it seems a step in the right direction and raises the profile of my landscape work which you can keep up to date with on my Flickr site here http://www.flickr.com/photos/penpystill/
